Welcome to the 2014 EBSA season! We have many new baseball & softball players so I just want to post some of the important events of the season and give a general rundown of how things work.
***IF YOU MISSED UNIFORM FITTINGS - EMAIL ME YOUR CHILDS PANTS AND JERSEY SIZE ASAP*** ***IF IN DOUBT - GO BIGGER - THE GAMES DONT START UNTIL LATE APRIL.
Early Feb - coaches meeting at Jackson Twp Hall (Mississippi & Chicago) I will send the exact date and time once I confirm availability. WE ALWAYS NEED COACHING HELP. You do NOT have to be a "expert" at baseball and softball to be involved. We need positive role models who can help teach fundamentals and keep it fun for the kids. We are especially in need at the Pinto and T-Ball level. If you are worried about time commitment, we have always allowed for maximum flexibility for scheduling practices. Feel free to email me or call (423-1410) anytime to discuss.
Feb 16 2PM - Tri-county baseball coaches meeting at Rurys Tap in South Wilmington for Mustang and Bronco boys coaches - 1 rep from every team MUST attend. This meeting is to set up scheduling and go over rules/changes.
Meetings for softball and Manhattan (t-ball/pinto boys) and Coal Valley Pony are TBA
March 1 - Indoor practices start for levels above t-ball (t-ball starts later in March) in the school small and big gyms
April 1 - weather permitting, we get outside.
Early April - Picture day. I will post on the site as well as email out when we confirm this date. THIS IS ALSO RAFFLE STUB TURN IN DAY.
April 26 - Opening day! 10am. Teams lineup 9:45am. Ceremony 10am - 10:30. We draw raffle winners, National Anthem, announce our teams and throw out 1st pitch, followed by a day of games!
Season runs until late June. T-BALL AND PINTO BOYS PLAY VS MANHATTAN. GIRLS PLAY IN A LOCAL LEAGUE THAT VISITS AREA TOWNS (3 RIVERS SOFTBALL) BOYS MUSTANG & BRONCO PLAY IN THE TRI-COUNTY LEAGUE. PONY BOYS PLAY IN THE COAL VALLEY LEAGUE
ALL NEWS AND RELEVANT INFORMATION IS ALWAYS POSTED ON WWW.ELWOODBSA.ORG AND EMAILED TO ALL FAMILIES WELL AHEAD OF TIME.
***PLEASE NOTE A CHANGE THIS YEAR - FIELD CLEAN UP DAY (EARLY APRIL) IS LIMITED TO COACHES AND ASSISTANTS THIS YEAR. THIS IS DUE TO THE NEED FOR CONCESSION HELP. WE REALLY NEED FOR EVERYONE TO WORK THEIR 1 SHIFT (YOU CHOOSE) WHEN THE SEASON STARTS. IF YOU KNOW RETIREES OR STUDENTS NEEDING HIGH SCHOOL SERVICE HOURS, THIS WORK COUNTS TOWARDS THOSE HOURS. ANY BOARD MEMBER CAN SIGN OFF ON SERVICE HOURS WORKED. *******
